Hareline Underfur Hair Comb

Finally, the Hareline Underfur Hair Comb is back in production again after many years. One of the most underrated tools on the fly tying bench and just so simple. The secret to spinning hair is to remove the underfur first before stacking the hair into an even clump. The hair slides together far better with the hair removed, making clean, even wings possible.

This is a great underfur comb for removing under fur from deer hair, elk hair, antelope hair, moose hair and the like. It is also a tool to aid in separating underfur from guard hairs in making dubbing. The secret is the bone material used in this come. Unlike cheaper plastic combs, the bone does not trap static ans allows the hairs to pass through evenly without sticking to the comb’s teeth.

I could not spend a session at my desk without using one of these – an absolute essential if you are using hair.
