Hareline Swiss Straw – Cream
Hareline Swiss Straw is the perfect material for tying wings, wing cases, shell backs on scuds or other crustaceans like crawfish. Wing cases on little mayfly nymphs are a breeze with this stuff, and upright split wings on mayfly dries come together with ease. Swiss straw can also be used on a bunch of terrestrial patterns for wings on hoppers, cicadas, crickets and suchlike.
Being such a lightweight material, Hareline Swiss Straw makes great realistic wings on mayflies or caddis patterns. Swiss straw also goes by the name ‘Synthetic Raffia’, an old time fly tying material that still deserves a place at your tying desk. Available if various coulours, with 4.5 yards per package, carded.
Of course, if you want to create all sorts of natural looking streamer fly patterns, then our ever growing range of natural hairs and furs is the ideal place to start for something different to the synthetic option. Don’t just settle on looking in the Hare & Rabbit category when you’re chasing quality winging and body furs, check out the Specialty Species Category of the Troutlore Flytying Store as well. Plus, we keep a great selection of Calf and Bucktail as well, in a big range of colours to take care of your freshwater and saltwater flytying needs.
