Hareline Schlappen feathers play an important role in fly tying and are a very versatile natural product for many different patterns. They are taken from the base of a rooster’s tail and offer softer fibers than any other feather on the rooster. It’s almost like jumbo sized soft hackle. You can use these soft feathers as a tail or can create a soft hackle with ease. Cod flies, Yellowbelly flies, Redfin flies, Trout flies, Pike flies, salmon flies, saltwater flies … you name it!

Hareline schlappen offer top quality feathers, with a nice length and many great colors.

Schlappen can be used for tails, wings, throats collars and palmered hackles on larger flies. Plumes that are webbier than Chinese Saddle Hackle make Hareline Schlappen ideal for your larger flies or applications that call for bigger collars and palmered hackle. They really impart a lot of movement into your flies, especially when used on big streamer collars in conjunction with marabou.
