The Flexo Mudeye was the result of a trial process that began with the creation of a miniture Alphlexo Crab designed specifically for carp. Several stages through the development process and Rob turned left, instead of right, and headed towards a Mudeye pattern instead. With legs and bead chain eyes added in the development stage, the final result was a leaner design, with a dry fly hackle helping create the silhouette of the head, whilst also slowing the sink rate.
This unique design allows the Flexo Mudeye fly to be fished on the surface in stillwater for a short time before sinking, so it can also be used as a Jassid Beetle imitation. However, it is deadly when fished subsurface as a Mudeye pattern for feeding carp. It has accounted for several hundred carp at the time of writing this, although that number grows every week.
Tied on an Ahrex FW580 Wet Fly Hook, these are built tough to handle big fish, and has proven itself in the arena time and time again.
All flies sold at Troutlore are tied by hand in Australia by Rob from Troutlore, or designated tyers for specific patterns who are noted in the descriptions. This fly pattern is tied on quality Ahrex hooks and using the best materials, this is a great addition to any fly box.
All flies in the "Troutlore Flies" range are tied to order, after completed payment. This usually requires a 5-7 day turnaround depending on the current tying queue. Your complete order will be shipped as one after all flies have been tied. We will contact you is further unforeseen delays arise with a fly order. Flies tied by other Australian fly tyers are kept in stock and up to date quantities are shown, for immediate dispatch.
