Description

The Tabanas Fly is a large horsefly, similar to our local marchflies, and just as large in size. So, the Tabanas fly patterns actually works in imitating large moth and caddis flies as well.
The Vagabond Flies version of the Tabanas Fly honours our original design and brings a little bit of Australiana to the pattern. Tied on a size #12 hook, the extended body actually gives off the appearance of a much larger bug, more like a size #8. This results in Tabanas fly which is a great imitation for the Bogong moths that big brown trout go wild for in Australia. But it will work well in a range of caddis and hopper situations too.

Now sold as single units per hook size. Buy as few or as many as you like!

Of course, if you want to tie this pattern yourself, Troutlore offers all the quality materials for this pattern.

Vagabond Flies are tied by Eugene O’Dell, who’s lived and fished all around Australia of the years, yet is now located in New South Wales. His patterns have been put to the test over the years and refined to work with the best materials available and to better perform in Australian conditions. This Tabanas pattern is tied on quality hooks and using the best materials, this is a great addition to any fly box for all times of the the stream season.
