These natural New Zealand possum body hair patches are taken from hides that are expertly harvested, prepared and tanned before export and the big jump across the ditch so you can make the most of them in your fly tying.

The natural brown patches come from the same hides as the grey patches, but are found towards the hind quarters, whereas the grey patches are taken from up around the shoulders. Both exhibit grey and tan guard hairs, but the underfur on the brown patches is a delightful reddish – brown that creates a vibrant dubbing blend. The grey patches offer that classic natural light tone of grey possum fur. Most patches also offer a small section of belly hair, where a cream colour is shown.

It took us a long time to find the right supplier of possum body hair and tails in New Zealand and we are confident that these body pieces are of the best quality you are going to find. Best of all, they help to reduce the possum problem in NZ and help protect the local wildlife by reducing the possum population. The slightly oily, fluffy hair is quite unlike any other animal hide or body hair and so is a must have on any tying bench. Great for creating your own dubbing for a range of nymphs and dry fly patterns.

One single patch of possum body hair, like pictured, is approximately 3 inches x 4 inches.
