Description
The Monkey Bum the sort of fly that gets the job done when others aren’t working, especially as the day draws to an end, and best of all, it’s a fly that you can see in those lower light conditions. The Monkey Bum was created by guide Scott McPherson, who owns and operates Indulgence Flyfishing. Many of you may well have first come across it whilst fishing with Scott on the idyllic streams in Victoria’s North-East. Possibly you’ve been fortunate enough to be gifted one as they have traveled far and wide and been shared amongst anglers all over the trout fishing states of Australia. Perhaps you’ve read about the Monkey Bum online, or seen one sticking in a mates fishing hat. The fact is, this is a fly that has cemented it’s place in Australian flyfishing folklore and for good reason.
Now, many anglers tie these for themselves, and we do offer a TieYourOwn kit for the Monkey Bum, like we do for all flies available in the Troutlore Flytying Store, but we figured that if they were going to be made available for purchase here, then it was only fitting that the flies sold are tied by the creator himself. So, all Monkey Bum flies available from Troutlore are kept in stock and ready to go in the most common sizes, all tied By Scottie the way he likes to tie them for the way he likes to fish them.
Now sold as single units per hook size. Buy as few or as many as you like!
Of course, if you want to tie this pattern yourself, Troutlore offers materials for this pattern.
All flies sold at Troutlore are tied by hand in Australia by Rob from Troutlore, or designated tyers for specific patterns who are noted in the descriptions. This is one such pattern that is tied by a designated tyer. This pattern is tied on quality Kamasan hooks and using the best materials, this is a great addition to any fly box for all times of the the stream and lake season.
Sizes showing as “In Stock” represent flies that are ready to ship immediately. Any sizes showing as “Available to Backorder” will be tied after completed payment of order. This usually requires a 5-7 day turnaround depending on the current tying queue. Your complete order will be shipped as one after all flies have been tied. We will contact you is further unforeseen delays arise with a fly order.
Of course, if you can’t find a product you are specifically looking for, get in touch and we will see if it can be sourced, and kept in stock. Plus, you can keep up to date with new releases through our newsletter and social media outlets.
