Description

Hareline Swiss Straw is the perfect material for tying wings, wing cases, shell backs on scuds or other crustaceans like crawfish. Wing cases on little mayfly nymphs are a breeze with this stuff, and upright split wings on mayfly dries come together with ease. Swiss straw can also be used on a bunch of terrestrial patterns for wings on hoppers, cicadas, crickets and suchlike.

Being such a lightweight material, Hareline Swiss Straw makes great realistic wings on mayflies or caddis patterns. Swiss straw also goes by the name ‘Synthetic Raffia’, an old time fly tying material that still deserves a place at your tying desk.
