The Griffin Hook & Hackle Gauge is a really nifty item to have.
It will simply slide onto most vise stems. The hole fits on standard 3/8 inch vise stems.
To determine hackle size, the tier bends the hackle around the pin at the bottom of the gauge, taking the guess work out of hackle selection.
To determine hook size just match the chart.
It also conveniently pivots out of the way when not in use.
