Description

Introducing NGS Next Generation Shanks, the Next Generation of articulated shanks. Micro tail shanks for use with Micro sized NGS shanks when tying small Gamechanger flies.

Designed with Blane Chocklett and Martin Bawden

The Next Generation Shank (NGS) range represents the next generation of articulated shanks with a focus on improved functionality and ease of use.

The NGS range provides a single, improved design across the full range of shank sizes making it easier for fly tyers create and tie better, more effective articulated flies such as the Game Changer style flies. The design improvements offer significant advantages over previous shank model.

KEY FEATURES

Triangular Rear Loop

Reduces the gap between interconnected shanks by pulling the shanks closer together resulting in flies with tighter, more integrated bodies.

Triangular shape is easier for the jaws of the vise to grip and hold the shank, especially important with the smaller size shanks.

Loop eye

Stronger than a ring eye, the loop eye eliminates chance of shank failure enabling you to land bigger, stronger fish.

Extended Wire tags

The “tag end” of the shanks are now extended to run the full length of the shank. This means there are now 3 parallel wire strands creating an even base platform to wrap the thread and materials along the entire length of the shank. Makes it easier to wrap, more precise and overall, much stronger shank.

Single Design

Easier for fly tyers to better understand the articulation concept and tie better, more effective articulated flies across the full spectrum of fly sizes.

Fly tying kits kits can be found in the Tying Kits Category in the Troutlore Fly Tying Store. The kits from Flymen Fishing Co offer a great starting point for learning a new fly pattern. Our other customized ‘TieYourOwn’ fly tying kits offer larger amounts of materials and hooks (including threads). These allow you to tie larger volumes of flies (usually around 24 or 25 depending on the hook packs supplied), and still have materials left over to tie more with the addition of more hooks.
