Troutlore is proud to be partnering up with Firehole Outdoors to bring this great range of hooks to fly fishers all across Australia. We’ve been waiting some time for these Firehole Shanks AS1 to be developed and manufactured, so we are very glad to be able to offer them to you now.

The AS1 is a unique articulated shank. Designed to permit changing/substitution of materials.

The AS1 is formed from 0.9 mm stainless steel wire and is suggested for hooks #6 and larger. It is available in four lengths; 0.75″, 1.0″, 1.5″, and 2.25″.

Note: There is no industry standard for hook eye sizes. I present these suggestions after measuring many streamer hooks from most manufacturers. You may find that the suggested hook size may change based on the hook manufacturer that you use.

The Firehole Outdoors team in Bozeman have been having fun designing, testing, and bringing new products to you; the fly tyer and fly fisher. Not so unique you say? Well, maybe not. After all a dry hook is a dry hook, a nymph hook is a nymph hook. However, they are new, they are fresh, they are sharp, and they are strong; Montana strong.
However, most importantly, they are priced for the everyday fly tyer.
