It’s been a long time in the making. The team at Gaga Flies have been liaising with the Troutlore Fly Tying Store since last year. But it has finally all come together. So, without further adieu, we are proud to announce that Troutlore has been chosen to represent the Gaga Flies range of products down under. After tackling some lengthy shipping delays, we are finally able to offer Australian fly tyers the best synthetic quill on the market today.
These innovative products are now also complimented by the new addition to the range with the Magic Shrimp Skins. These make tying realistic shrimp and prawn patterns a breeze.
Magic quills deliver a beautiful segmented body on both dry flies and nymphs with the greatest of ease. A thread layer is applied to the hook shank first in the desired body colour. Once the correct body taper has been built up with this thread layer, the Magic Quill is tied in at the rear. Then, simply wrap forward in touching wraps right up the body. Since Magic Quills are tapered, your wraps will gradually spread apart naturally. And with the adhesive backing, it makes positioning of the quill even easier. Once fully wrapped, the quill is bound down with some thread wraps. After that, a coating of a UV resin like Dear Creek or Loon is applied to the body for a glossy coat.
Using Magic Shrimp Skins is even easier! They are pre-cut to shape and come in a range of sizes. Start by building up your shrimp pattern with eyes, legs and body dubbing all in place. Then simply apply the Magic Shrimp Skin to the top of the fly. Tie it in near the tail, just off the hook eye to complete your fly. A coating of UV resin can be applied if you want a still shell, or the natural flex of the Magic Shrimp Skin can be left as it.
Now that stocks have landed, we will be working with Gaga Flies to ensure an uninterrupted supply. Both Magic Quills and Magic Shrimp Skin are available for all fly tyers in Australia. As always, here at Troutlore we strive to keep stock of the tying materials you want, when you need them!
