Description

These natural New Zealand possum hide skins are expertly harvested, prepared and tanned before export and the big jump across the ditch so you can make the most of them in your fly tying. It took us a long time to find the right supplier of possum tails and body hair in New Zealand and we are confident that these are of the best quality you are going to find.

Best of all, they help to reduce the possum problem in NZ and help protect the local wildlife by reducing the possum population. All that, AND you now have the only material you can really use to tie a possum tail emerger. Nothing else compares. The slightly oily, very wiry hair is quite unlike any other animal hide or tail hair and so is a must have on any tying bench. What’s more, with these hides ranging between 18 and 24 inches in length, in the body section, pus the tail, there is enough hair on there to keep any fly tying well stocked until the turn of the century. You should be right with just the one of these, that’s for certain.

Great for creating your own possum dubbing blends. The bodies can be used to cut your own custom sized zonker strips with big, soft and fluffy fur. Each one varies slightly, so please refer to the photos for colour options. Priced accordingly for size and quality of hide and tail.

Also, if you just want a super warm throw to sit over your lap at the tying bench in winter, or to sit one for added warmth and comfort, these are a really neat option.

Of course, if you want to create all sorts of natural looking streamer fly patterns, then our ever growing range of natural hairs and furs is the ideal place to start. Don’t just settle on looking in the Hare & Rabbit category when you’re chasing quality winging and body furs, check out the Specialty Species Category of the Troutlore Flytying Store as well. Plus, we keep a great selection of Cald and Bucktail as well, in a big range of colours to take care of your freshwater and saltwater flytying needs. If you can’t find a product you are specifically looking for, get in touch and we will see if it can be sourced, and kept in stock.
